Frequently asked questions

What is Harmony?

Harmony is a non-profit providing lessons in the arts to our community. Those under 18 get to learn how to play various instruments for free, as well as various mediums of art. All we ask in exchange is to give back to the community by volunteering their time.

What is P.I.F?

P.I.F stands for Pay-It-Forward. Through this method – every student is required to give one hour of community service for each hour of lesson received. Harmony is strictly dependent on volunteers to run our facilities. There are numerous volunteer opportunities to sign up for here. [Provide a Link to Volunteer Opportunities Tab]

How much does it cost?

There is no financial cost – all we ask is for your time! We do appreciate donations to give us the means to keep the door open.

What type of lessons are there?

We currently offer lessons in Drums, Choir, Saxophone, and Guitar. Please keep in touch as we will be adding lessons periodically. These include keyboard, piano, painting, drawing and creative writing.

Do students perform?

Once our students have reached an adequate level of instruction we give them the opportunity to perform at various concerts. Be it at local concerts or even competitions, these appearances give our students a goal, motivation and target to reach.

How old do you have to be?

The age for our lessons are 10 years old and up. We currently have a junior choir that welcomes those ages 8 and up.

What can I do to help?

Volunteers are necessary to help keep Harmony organized and capable. Please go to our Career page to sign up.

Can adults join Harmony?

Adults are more than welcome to join Harmony as a volunteer. In terms of lessons, we do not have enough teachers to be able to accommodate. Due to a high volume of inquiries, we are looking to add adult lessons to our programming. So please stay in touch!
